Recycling Ceramics Waste

The wall tile “Shadow” had applied an integrated design and was moulded in a whole. The cement which made it up was aggregated with ceramic that contributed to 50%  of weight in the material, resulted in a brilliant efficency of recycling wasted materials. It will be an action we make everyday, as well as an attitude toward life, and the  abstinence against appetite and profligacy.

Imaging Light and Shadow

Wall tiles commonly seen often rely on color and wavy surface to serve for a decorative purpose but “Shadow” is uncommon. Learning from the principle of light andshadow imaging with incredible formability of cement, this design stayed in a planar form but presented different shades of shadow with grooves of different depths. The contrast between light and shade resulted in a visually three-dimensional effect that enhances the extensity and made the room impressive. “Shadow” will  present more and more possibilities of how a docorative walltile could be.

Statement by the Jury

The Shadow wall tiles actively challenge the perception, as they keep changing to astounding effect depending on the viewing angle. They continuously evoke new images that gradually intensify in their visual expressivity. The innovative design concept underlying these wall tiles is highly impressive, also with  regard to their durability and high utility value. Moreover, this product also convinces with its perfectly implemented aspect of sustainability.

 Youth, BENTU!

For a start, we would like to express our apology for not coming up a well-prepared plan for the ceremony. Fortunately, we had our friend Chen Junyao, a student studying  in Essen, accept the honorable award for us. Even just a low-pixel picture was sent back to us during the great event, the national flag of China is clear enough for us to be  proud of who we truly are: we are BENTU, we are a young design team from China.

Junyao told us that designers and guests around the gala were basically well-dressed, except him, a young kid in sweater and jeans representing BENTU.

Actually we were pleased that, regardless of the inappropriate dress code, he had perfectly shown to the world an authentic and dynamic image of BENTU: we are a group of young people with devoted passion towards design and endless vision towards future. BENTU is an open and multivariate label of sprit more than a regional design  brand. We would like to share such an honor and joy with all the young around the world!
